PERSONAL CFO

The CFO (Chief Financial Officer) of a business manages the business’ important financial matters while seeking to maximize its value. We adopt a similar role as your Personal CFO. As your fiduciary partner, we strive to help you accomplish two objectives: live a rewarding life you love today & maximize your long-term wealth to support future endeavors.

We believe a successful client/planner partnership requires a combination of both ongoing financial planning and investment management. Providing both services gives us the vantage point needed to help you find the right balance of making the most of today and building wealth for tomorrow. However, providing both services also makes the conventional Assets Under Management (AUM) fee model most advisors use inappropriate. The problem is that AUM pricing creates a lot of conflicts of interest between a planner and their client. These include how much cash a client should hold and where to hold it, how much a client should contribute to their employer plan (401k & 403b…etc.), what to do with money in those plans after leaving a job, how and when a client can most effectively pay down debt, along with many others.

We do things differently at Mountain River and charge clients a fixed annual fee that is paid monthly, similar to a phone bill. The fee is calculated based on the client’s net worth and is reset annually to account for changes in net worth over time. Our fee structure accounts for the increased complexity that comes with managing higher levels of wealth while ensuring our interests are fully aligned with our client’s. Every client relationship at Mountain River Financial begins with a no-cost discovery meeting to see if we are a good fit to work together. For those not yet in need of the Personal CFO relationship, we offer our Financial Tune-Up as an alternative.

The Financial Tune-Up is designed for people with one or two pressing concerns. We will request any needed documents and information and then schedule up to two hours for us to review the topic(s) together and develop a plan.

We follow-up with a written report summarizing what we covered and the plan recommendations that we developed. This report is designed to help clients navigate through the specific topic(s) we discussed. It includes suggested next steps and the reasoning behind each of the suggestions.
