Get To Know Us

Mountain River Financial is a fiduciary and fee-only financial planning and wealth management firm in Abington, PA. We help six-figure earners in their 30s & 40s build wealth and create financial independence. We do things differently in an industry that’s sorely in need of change. To start, we got rid of the opaque and lucrative AUM fee model used by most advisors. Instead, we opted for a transparent and common sense fixed fee that we believe is a fairer way to pay for planning and investment advice. As a fiduciary, our clients rest easy knowing that we’re always acting in their best interest.

How We Operate

We start with education and focus on bringing clarity to an industry full of complexity and confusing jargon. We lose the jargon and focus on getting to know you. Then we create and help implement customized financial plans tailored to achieve your goals and grow your wealth. In line with the ongoing nature of our relationship, we charge a fixed annual fee that is paid on a monthly basis. The fee is calculated according to your net worth and is reset annually to account for changes in your net worth over time. Click here to view our fee schedule.

As your personal CFO, we provide a combination of financial planning and investment management services. We’ve developed a collaborative approach to help you organize your goals and needs. We then develop and help implement a plan designed to make more purposeful decisions aimed at achieving those goals. We take our clients relationships very seriously and hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards.

Life is full of important transitions. You can rest assured that we’ll be by your side through these transitions, be they family growth, career changes, retirement, or intra-family transfers. We’re here for the long haul to serve as your trusted partner.

About Rob Stromberg and Mountain River Financial

Meet Rob Stromberg, CFP®

Hi, I’m Rob. I’m a dad, a husband, and a regular guy who really enjoys personal finance and helping others find confidence in their financial lives. I entered the financial planning profession after 7 years working at an institutional wealth management firm in Connecticut. In my role, I traveled around the country consulting with financial advisors on how they could improve their client’s portfolios while also streamlining their own businesses. The experience was both inspiring and disheartening. It was inspiring because I learned a lot from some excellent planners. I saw first hand the power of good advice and how it could change the lives of those receiving it. However, I also met a lot of advisors who were making a good living while giving bad advice and not putting their client’s interests first. Unfortunately, it seemed as though there were nearly as many bad advisors as there were good ones.

My time consulting showed me that the planning profession had plenty of room for improvement and I wanted to create a more meaningful experience for those seeking help with managing their finances and investments. Mountain River Financial was formed on the basis of always putting our client’s interests first, charging clients in a fairer manner, using technology to make the planning process more convenient, and adhering to a sensible investment philosophy when managing wealth. In short, we’re trying to be the change that the profession needs.

My interest in investing began at an early age. I bought a share of a technology company in the early stages of the tech boom and held onto it through the tech bubble bursting. The ups and downs of that first investment experience fueled a lifelong desire to learn more. That desire eventually took me to the University of Delaware where I double majored in Finance and Economics, and then to Connecticut where I began my work in wealth management. I still wake up excited to learn more and ready to find innovative ways to serve the clients I work with.

Above all else, I’m committed to being the best husband and father I can be. When I’m not manning the helm at Mountain River Financial, you’ll find me enjoying quality time with my wife Kara, son Noah, and our dog Autumn. I love traveling, hanging with family, spending time outdoors, seeing live music, and watching sports. Our family’s ability to create a fulfilling life on our own terms is something we hold dear, and I hope to help empower you to do the same.

Mountain River Financial was founded as a location-independent financial planning practice that can work virtually with clients across the United States. We use the latest technology to provide clients with convenient and streamlined service.

As a Registered Investment Advisor, we are legally bound by a Fiduciary Oath to always act in the best interest of the clients we serve, and the accounts we manage.
